Provided herein are adhesive compositions comprising: 1) at least one adhesive of an alcohol-functionalized acrylic adhesive, an alcohol-functionalized silicone adhesive, a carboxyl-functionalized acrylic adhesive, and a carboxyl-functionalized silicone adhesive, 2) at least one phase-separated hydrophilic material, and 3) at least one bioactive compound. At least one bioactive compound may comprise an antimicrobial agent. The adhesive compositions can quickly release an antimicrobial agent and cause the rapid onset of antimicrobial effects.
