This invention describes a protein nanoparticle system for targeting siRNA or other drugs into tumors. The basis of the protein system is elastin-like peptides that self-assemble once exposed to the nucleic acid of the siRNA. Specific targeting peptides are fused to the core ELP structure by standard genetic engineering techniques. These targeting peptides confer specific binding of the nanoparticle to receptors on the surface of tumor cells and allow for uptake of the nanoparticle into the tumor cells.본 발명은 siRNA 또는 기타 다른 약물을 종양으로 표적화하는 단백질 나노입자 시스템을 기술한다. 단백질 시스템의 기반은, 일단 siRNA의 핵산에 노출되면 자가 조립하는 엘라스틴 유사 펩티드이다. 특이적인 표적화 펩티드는 표준 유전 공학 기법에 의해 코어 ELP 구조에 융합된다. 이러한 표적화 펩티드는 종양 세포 표면 상의 수용체에 나노입자의 특이적 결합이 일어나게 하여 종양 세포로 나노입자의 흡수가 가능하게 한다.
