A dust bath (1) for poultry, the dust bath (1) comprising a pan (10) with a floor (11), a bordering surface (17, 18, 19, 20) projecting upwards from the border area of the floor (11), a roof (40) placed at a distance from the floor (11) of the dust bath (1) and a mat (70) placed on the floor (11) of the dust bath (1), the dust bath (1) being characterized in that: - at least one portion of the floor (11) of the pan (10) has a slope relative to a horizontal axis (31)； and - at least one portion of the bordering surface (17, 18, 19, 20) projects outwards from the floor (11) of the pan (10) at an angle of between 10° and 70° relative to a horizontal plane. A method for using a dust bath (1) in which substrate is filled into the dust bath (1) through an opening (41) in the roof (40) of the dust bath (1).
