PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial and antifungal agent derived from natural products, imparting high hydrophilic property and exhibiting sufficient antimicrobial activity while taking advantages of polysaccharides having little bad influence on environment and human bodies by solving problems in which several natural antimicrobial agents using alginic acid and suggested hitherto could not obtain sufficient antimicrobial activity, though conventional antimicrobial agents are largely divided to organic, inorganic and natural agents and have each merits and demerits and are properly used according to applications.SOLUTION: The antibacterial and antifungal agent comprises polyuronic acid prepared by oxidizing polysaccharides comprising N-acetylglucosamine or glucosamine or glucose, or polysaccharides such as starch and converting a part of the hydroxy groups thereof to a carboxy group or its salt as an active ingredient.COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT【課題】 従来の抗菌剤は、有機系、無機系、天然系の3つに大きく分けられ、それぞれのメリットデメリットがあり、用途によって使い分けられている。天然系としては、アルギン酸を用いた抗菌剤がいくつか提案されているが十分な抗菌力を得ることはできなかった。本発明は、環境や人体への悪影響が少ないという多糖類本来の利点を生かしつつ、高い親水性を付与し、十分な抗菌力を示す天然物由来の抗菌抗カビ剤を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】 N-アセチルグルコサミンまたはグルコサミンまたはグルコースからなる多糖類や、デンプンのような多糖類を酸化して水酸基の一部をカルボキシル基またはその塩に変換して調製したポリウロン酸を有効成分とする抗菌抗カビ剤。【選択図】なし
