1372230 Discharging choppers KARL BECKER KG MASCHINENFABRIK 29 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 60507/71 Heading B8S [Also in Division A1] A device for discharging individual elements from a quantity thereof in a hopper 14, comprises a wheel 12 having cells 13 for carrying the elements from the hopper to an ejection aperture 16 in a housing 17 of the device, each cell 13 having a conical depression with an aperture 13a at the apex, and an air blast from a supply 8 being directed into each passing cell to force the element at the cone apex, into the depression, and to blow any remaining elements out of the depression back into the hopper 14. The apertures 13a are dimensionally smaller than the smallest element to be separated, and the nozzle 15 for the air blast is meniscus shaped to substantially coincide with the edge profile of each depression passing thereunder. The elements may be ejected at the aperture 16 by a spoked wheel mounted radially inwardly of the cells 13. The cells may alternatively be formed in the side of the wheel with the depression axes parallel to the cell wheel axis. In another embodiment the cell wheel is re- placed by an endless cell belt on chain.
