To provide an absorbent article that is provided with a stretchable sheet that has a stretchable region in which stretching stress differs depending on the position within a region of the stretchable sheet. [Solution] Provided is an absorbent article that is provided with a stretchable sheet wherein: in the stretchable sheet an elastic film that is stretchable in at least a fore aft direction is laminated between a first sheet layer that is not stretchable and a second sheet layer； the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer are joined directly or with the elastic film disposed therebetween at multiple joining portions (40) having spaces between each other； and the stretchable sheet contracts due to contractive force of the elastic film and can be stretched by applying an external force in the fore aft direction. A leg encircling portion (Z) also contracts due to the contractive force of the elastic film and can be stretched by applying an external force in a width direction. The stretching stress differs between the leg encircling portion and a region adjacent to said portion because the joining portion area ratios are different.
