Nanofiber mats comprising chitosan, chitosan-essential oils and, in particular, chitosan-cinnamaldehyde (chitosan-CA) are described, including methods of making the nanofiber mats and methods of using same, for example, for inactivating bacteria such as E. coli and P. aeruginosa, and as therapeutic wound dressings to treat nosocomial pseudomonas infections.
