In a method and device for growing a crop, cultivation is carried out in an at least substantially daylight-free, air-conditioned cultivation space (10). The cultivation space extends between a first side (1) and an opposite second side (2), the crop being exposed to photosynthetically active radiation from a series of spatially separated artificial light sources (60). An air stream (35) is passed over the crop from the first side to the second side. The artificial light sources are spatially distributed over the crop. With downstream light sources (60QR) of the series of light sources deliver a higher dose of photosynthetically active radiation than more upstream light sources (60AB), calculated in the direction of the flow of air (35) that is passed over the crop.Bij een werkwijze en inrichting voor het telen van een gewas wordt in een althans in hoofdzaak daglichtvrije, geklimatiseerde teeltruimte (1 0) geteeld. De teeltruimte strekt zich uit uit tussen een eerste zijde (1) en een, overstaande tweede zijde (2), waarbij het gewas aan fotosynthetisch actieve straling afkomstig van een reeks ruimtelijk gescheiden kunstlichtbronnen (60) wordt blootgesteld. Een luchtstroom (35) wordt van de eerste zijde naar de tweede zijde over het gewas geleid. De kunstlichtbronnen zijn ruimtelijk over het gewas gedistribueerd. Met stroomafwaarts gelegen lichtbronnen (60QR) van de reeks lichtbronnen leveren een hogere dosis aan fotosynthetisch actieve straling dan meer stroomopwaarts gelegen lichtbronnen (60AB), gerekend in de stroomrichting van de luchtstroom (3 5) die over het gewas wordt geleid.
