The method involves hybridizing an ostrea edulis oyster of mediterranean resistant to pathogens e.g. bacteria, and non-resistant oyster e.g. ostrea angasi, of opposite sex, where the pathogens are responsible for disease e.g. bonamiosis. The hybridization of the ostrea edulis oyster and the non-resistant oyster is performed by developing the oysters in a container in a dark photo period with a nutritional contribution sufficient for development. An independent claim is also included for an oyster.
