A trial implant assembly (20) is provided that includes a threaded shaft having exterior threading adjacent a distal end (26b) and a trial implant (22) that includes a trial base (34) having an interiorly threaded through hole couplable to the distal end of the shaft (24) and a trial head (36) having a superior endplate (50) and an inferior endplate (52) and a support connecting the superior endplate to the inferior endplate.
