594610 Disclosed herein is the use of levamisol and a marcocyclic lactone in controlling internal parasites in ruminants and extending the time between treatments to minimise drench use, by injecting the animal with an injectable composition containing both the levamisole and the macrocyclic lactone. Preferably wherein the animal is treated with 3 to 9 mg/kg, more specifically 7.5 mg/kg to 8 mg/kg, of levamisole base and about 0.1 to 0.5mg/kg of a macrocyclic lactone. Preferably wherein the ruminant animal is treated at from 40 to 60 day intervals. Additionally disclosed is an injectable veterinary formulation comprising (A) a macrocyclic lactone in the range from 0.5% to 2% w/v, and (B) levamisole in the range from 30% to 60% w/v, more preferably 30% to 40% w/v, dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent system.
