This invention relates to a method of identifying individuals withneuropsychiatric disorders or topredict and determine the efficacy of treatment of the disorder by acquiringinformation aboutvisual scanning behaviour and fluctuations of visual scanning behaviour ofindividualscomprising presenting to the individual a sequence of visual stimuli, whereineach visualstimulus is comprised of multiple images with specific characteristics,measuring the point-of-gazeof said subject on the visual stimuli and calculating a set of statisticalmeasures thatdescribes the visual scanning behaviour of the individual on images or portionof images withthe same characteristics； and making a determination of biases in visualscanning behaviour ofthe individual, by comparing the statistical measures of the individual to thestatistical measuresof controls.
