The present invention relates to a stable self-assembling graphene oxide-protein matrix comprising a disordered protein (DP) and graphene oxide (GO), wherein the DP has an opposite charge to the GO, further wherein the graphene oxide-protein matrix is in the form of a 3D structure having a lumen defined by a membrane having an inner and outer surface.
