PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire capable of preventing a resin coating layer from being peeled off from a core part and turned up, and preventing a cylindrical member from coming off from the core part or being caught in a catheter, and a method of manufacturing the guide wire.SOLUTION: A guide wire 10 includes a long-sized core part 20, a resin coating layer 40 composed of a resin material for covering the tip part of the core part, and a metal cylindrical member 50 in which the core part is inserted into the lumen, and which is arranged so as to come in contact with at least part of the base end 41 of the resin coating layer.
