PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high concentration astaxanthin extract which, in spite of containing astaxanthin in a concentration as high as 10 wt.% or higher, can exhibit good fluidity, high stability, low odoriferousness and easiness to handle.

SOLUTION: A high concentration high fluidity astaxanthin extract is obtained by filling an extraction tank with a ground natural astaxanthin-containing material, removing concomitants such as fat and oil from the material with a supercritical solvent, extracting astaxanthin with a supercritical solvent or the like, and removing the solvent from the mixture to leave an astaxanthin-containing extract, to which e.g., MCT is added. The high concentration astaxanthin-containing extract can be used in products, such as powders or emulsions, containing astaxanthin in high concentrations.
