The present invention relates to nucleic acids encoding flavonoid biosyntheticenzymes, flavonoid-regulating transcriptionfactors and a flavonoid-specific membrane transporter in plants, and the usethereof for the modification of flavonoidbiosynthesis in plants. The present invention also relates to constructs andvectors including such nucleic acids, and relatedpolypeptides. More particularly, the protein involved in flavonoidbiosynthesis is selected from the group consisting of: MADS box factor,WRKY box factor, MYC factor, TT1, HLH factor, MYB factor, FMT, UG3E, GST, OMT,RT, CYTb5, laccase, and ABC transporterproteins, and functionally active fragments and variants thereof.
