The composition includes pro-inflammatory low molecular weight microbial fermented sodium hyaluronate fragments having a molecular weight of 0.5 to 300 kilodaltons (kDa) and astaxanthin in an oral dosage form. The astaxanthin may be derived from a natural or synthetic ester or synthetic diol. The composition may include a mixture of cartilage and salt and boron.
