The present invention relates to a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) device which is manufactured using semiconductor processing technology and comprises a piezoelectric material, wherein the piezoelectric material is coated with an aromatic material and the MEMS device is operated using sound waves or electric signals, to diffuse the aromatic material and thereby actualize an artificial olfactory detection technology. This will play a significant role in the development of augmented reality technologies, and can be used in areas such as remote medical diagnosis, broadcasting, marketing, production and process management of goods, the gaming industry, mobile solutions and education, and also can be applied to solve various problems associated with rapid industrialization and aging populations, such as pollution, mental illnesses and age-related brain diseases.본 발명에 따르면, 반도체 가공 기술을 이용해 제작되며 압전물질이 결합된 미세전자기계시스템(MEMS) 소자의 압전물질 위에 방향 물질을 입히고, 음파 또는 전기신호를 이용하여 MEMS 소자를 구동하여 원하는 방향 물질을 확산시켜 인공후각 기술을 구현한다. 이는 미래사회의 핵심 기술 중 하나로 대두되고 있는 증강현실의 기술개발에 있어 큰 역할을 할 것이며, 현재 국내 기술로는 활용 기술들을 충족시키지 못하고 있는 원격 의료진단, 방송, 마케팅, 상품 제조 및 공정관리, 게임산업, 모바일 솔루션, 교육 등에 활용될 수 있으며, 고도의 산업화, 노인인구 증가로 인해 발생하는 각종 환경오염, 정신질환, 노인성 뇌 질환 등과 같은 문제들을 해결하기 위한 기술로 응용될 수 있다.
