The present invention refers to the use of cinnamaldehyde, preferably in the absence of other essential oils, for the treatment and/or prevention of the black sigatoka fungal disease. The present invention also relates to a composition for the treatment and/or prevention of the black sigatoka fungal disease, characterised in that it essentially comprises at least one active ingredient consisting of cinnamaldehyde.
