PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition and a health food containing crude drug extract for preventing and treating depression are provided to significantly suppress oxidative stress or neurotoxicity and to prevent and treat depression and anxiety. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating depression contains extract of Cyperus rotundus L., Poria cocas(Schw.) Wolf., Glycyrrhiza ssp., and Coptis chinensis.
