The present invention relates to a method for increasing the salt tolerance of a plant, to a plant having increased salt tolerance prepared by the method, and to a seed of the plant, wherein the method comprises over-expressing SyGT by transforming a plant cell with a recombinant plant expression vector including a gene encoding Synechocystis PCC 6906-derived S SyGT protein and a SyGT gene.
