A fruit or vegetable picking system 300 comprises a moveable base 310, one or more robotic arms 200 mounted on the base and a storage system 100 mounted on the base. The storage system having a filling location 120 configured to receive picked fruit and vegetables, a storage region having a plurality of container locations 110 and a robotic handling mechanism 130 configured to move fruit or vegetables from the filling location to any one of the container locations where filled containers (punnets) maybe temporarily stored. The robotic arms being controllable to deliver fruit or vegetables to the filling location/s. The or each robotic arm maybe mounted adjacent the filling location of a respective storage system. The or each robotic handling mechanism may be located with the interior volume of a storage system superstructure Also disclosed is a method of picking fruit and vegetables, a storage system and a robotic picking arm for use in the picking system
