A medical device is formed with coils having repeated loops, each loop forms polygons, and each continuous loop forms a spiral form by being slightly rotated from the closely attached loop. In a desirable embodiment of the present invention, the polygons are triangles, and the repeated triangular loop coils can be used as a guide wire inside a stent transfer catheter. The guide wire additionally includes a rigid core wire located inside the triangular loop coils, and the rigid core wire includes a tapered section which reduces the rigidity toward the distal direction.
