Methods and compositions for systemically or locally administering abeneficialagent to a subject are described, and include, for example, depotgel compositions that can be injected into a desired location and which canprovide controlled release of @beneficial agent over a prolonged duration oftime. The compositions include a biocompatiNe polymer, a biocompatible solventhaving low water miscibility that forms a viscous gel with the polymer andlimits water uptake by the implant, and a beneficial agent.
