PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission system which is inexpensive, has simple constitution and can transmit a plurality of digital video signals, and more concretely the signal transmission system suitable for digitalizing images picked up by respective endoscopes and transmitting them to the outside in an endoscope system like a mother-baby endoscope system.
SOLUTION: The signal transmission system has: a transmission system provided with a modulation means for modulating at least first and second digital video signals to a single digital signal for transmission by multiplexing them and transmitting it to the outside and an identification information superimposing means for superimposing identification information for identifying the respective digital video signals in the blanking period of the respective digital video signals input to the modulation means and a reception system provided with a demodulation means for receiving the digital signal for the transmission output from the transmission system and demodulating the digital signal for the transmission to the first and second digital video signals on the basis of the identification information.
