摘要:
598970 Disclosed is a barbed suture for closing wounds in tissue. The suture comprises an elongated body with one pointed end or needle and a plurality of barbs extending from the periphery of the body. The barbs permit movement of the suture through the tissue in the direction of movement of the pointed end and prevent movement of the suture in a direction opposite the direction of movement of the pointed end. The other end has an anchor including at least one arcuate limb extending outside the periphery of the body to a greater degree than the barbs, the anchor preventing movement of the suture in the direction of movement of the pointed end. The anchor is a structure selected from the group consisting of: an elongated bar, a plurality of limbs each having different lengths, a plurality of limbs that are concave toward the pointed end, an elongated bar having a plurality of pointed elements extending from the bar toward the pointed end, a hemispherical anchor, a coneflower, a harpoon, a hook, and an M shape. The anchor has a plurality of arcuate or concave or convex curved limbs each of a different length that are substantially evenly or unevenly spaced around the body of the suture.
