A headgear for use with a mask, comprising a first strap 4010 being configured to engage a back of a patient’s head and extend on either side of the patient’s parietal bone behind the patient’s ears and assume, in use, a substantially circular or oval shape, wherein at least a portion of the first strap 4010 is substantially inextensible, a first upper strap 4012 configured to in-use extend from the first strap 4010 above one of the patient’s ears to connect to the mask, and a first lower strap 4013 configured to in-use extend from the first strap 4010 below one of the patient’s ears to connect to the mask, wherein the first upper strap 4012 is more extensible than the first lower strap 4013.
