PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin external preparation which has a good feeling in use and is effective for improving the condition of the skin. A skin external preparation of the present invention is an effervescent skin external preparation containing at least a solid acidic substance and a solid carbon dioxide-generating substance that reacts with the acidic substance to generate carbon dioxide gas. Further, the polysaccharide or its derivative is selected from at least one selected from cellulose derivatives and starch derivatives, and a hydrophilic natural polymer which is alginic acid or a salt thereof, carrageenan, guar gum, locust bean gum, xanthan gum or tamarind gum. At least one kind (however, in the case of containing sodium carboxymethyl cellulose as a cellulose derivative, excluding alginic acid or salts thereof), it is mixed with a hydrous substance when the external preparation for skin is used.
