PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the spring-out of seed S caused by the direct hit of soil discharged backward and effectively utilize the discharged soil as a covering soil in a sowing machine provided with a furrow-opening tine wheel 6 rotating opposite to the moving direction of the body and forming a sowing furrow G on the ground, a soil-guiding cover 7 placed above the tine wheel, receiving the soil sprung up with the tine wheel 6 and guiding the soil backward and a seed dropping pipe 21 opening at the back of the cover. SOLUTION: The sowing machine is provided with a soil covering apparatus 28 having a pair of right and left guide plates 30, 31 oppositely placed at the back of a seed dropping pipe 21 in the moving direction of the body interposing a prescribed gap between the plates and a shielding plate 32 made of a rubber and placed between the guide plates directing the surface perpendicular to the moving direction of the body. The gap between the guide plates 30, 31 is narrowing downward.
