An endoprosthesis comprises a basic mesh including largely biodegradable material and a coating (30) arranged on the biodegradable material. The coating contains parylene, predominantly parylene, preferably parylene C or parylene N. The basic mesh is covered completely by the coating having a thickness of 0.1-10mu m, preferably 0.4-7mu m, particularly 1-5mm. An independent claim is included for a method for producing endoprosthesis, which involves: (A) providing basic mesh of the endoprothesis with degradation elements (B) applying a coating containing parylene to the surface of the endoprosthesis and (C) treating the coating with oxygen plasma.
