A method for detecting cancer in a subject includes administering polysilicon mirrors to the subject, transmitting near infrared light through subjects skin, receiving light which is reflected from the polysilicon mirrors though the subjects skin, converting received light into a digital signal and calculating a level of CEA in the subjects blood from the digital signal.
