602296 Disclosed is a method for treating plants with a 1-alkylcyclopropene represented by Formula 1 comprising: (a) mixing (i) a 1-alkylcyclopropene precursor-containing agent of Formula 2 or 3 and (ii) a fluoride-containing agent, separately supplied, to prepare 1-alkylcyclopropene of Formula 1 (b) simultaneously or continuously with step (a), phase-separating 1-alkylcyclopropene of Formula 1 from the reaction solution and (c) applying the 1-alkylcyclopropene of Formula 1 to plants, wherein the steps are carried out in situ wherein A represents a straight-chain linkage having the formula of (CH2)mY(CH2)n, in which m and n each independently represent an integer of 0 to 3 and Y each independently represents CH2, O or S R1 represents substituted or unsubstituted C3-C20 alkyl or C6-C10 aryl, furanyl, pyranyl, or thienyl, each of which may be substituted with at least one selected from the group consisting of fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, silicon and phosphorus R2, R3 and R4 each independently represent substituted or unsubstituted C1-C10 alkyl or alkoxy, C6-C10 aryl or aryloxy, C1-C10 primary amine or secondary amine, or halogen and X represents halogen or OSO2T, in which T represents hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted C1-C10 alkyl, alkoxy or aryl, aryloxy, amine, halogen or hydroxy. Representative compounds of formula (I) include (2-phenylethyl)cyclopropene, (3-phenylpropyl), (4-phenylbutyl)cyclopropene, (5-phenylpentyl)cyclopropene and Hexylcyclopropene.
