In one of its aspects, the present invention provides a compositioncomprising: (i) a non-encapsulatediron salt, and (ii) a carrier comprising digestible edible oil that is aliquid at 20°C.This composition advantageously provides iron in a form that is easilyadministered to an infantor adult. When taken directly by mouth or added to food or infant formula, thecomposition has adesirably bland flavor and is easy to consume. Moreover, the high density ofiron per unitvolume of the composition results in a minimal volume of liquid to beadministered. This makesthe composition relatively innocuous and easy for infants to consume. Relatedaspects of thepresent invention are also described - e.g., uses, articles of manufacture andthe like.
