The present invention provides an underpants-type disposable diaper that has pleats formed in an outer body, which vertically and straightly extend, is excellent in appearance and air permeability, and is excellent in drawing preventing performance of a resilient and elastic member. The above-mentioned object is solved by a method for producing an underpants-type disposable diaper including, in forming stretchable regions, applying an adhesive (71) to both an external surface of an inside layer (21) and an internal surface of an outside layer (22) in the same vertical striped pattern intermittent in an MD direction while transporting the inside layer (21) and the outside layer (22), and then, fixing resilient and elastic members (19) to the inside layer (21) and the outside layer (22) by bonding the inside layer (21) and the outside layer (22) to each other such that a position of the adhesive (71) on the inside layer (21) in the MD direction and a position of the adhesive (71) on the outside layer (22) in the MD direction are made to match with each other and sandwiching the resilient and elastic members (19) between the inside layer (21) and the outside layer (22) continuously along the MD direction.
