In accordance with one implementation of the subject matter, a planting apparatus is described herein. The planting apparatus comprises a bottom wall which is associated with a side wall to define a planting container. The planting apparatus comprises a dividing element which divides the planting container into a water table and a growth compartment. The water table is provided with an inlet fitted with a control valve which controls the level of liquid in the water table to a predetermined level.
