The device (29) has a cutting tool for cutting a plant, and a receptacle for stable maintenance of the plant in a vertical position when the plant is set into a floret, where the cutting tool is provided with an endless screw (32). The tool includes a cutting part (33) having two jaws (35) actuated respectively by two sets of hydraulic cylinders (37) and connecting rods (36a, 36b), where the jaws partly describe a half-sphere in the plant.
