A stable and consistent reversible-coloured photochromic additive changes colour from an original buff colour to a desired colour shade, between pink to blue, when exposed to sunlight and restores to the original colour in the absence of the sunlight. It may simultaneously have an SPF value of at least 3. The additive comprises titanium dioxide, psuedoboehmite, iron oxide hydroxide and tungsten oxide.
