The invention relates to a method and a grinding and eroding machine (10) for machining a workpiece (14). Here, a combined grinding and eroding tool (12) is used, which is used in the same setup for eroding the workpiece (14) and for subsequently grinding the workpiece (14). Following the eroding, an oversize remains on the workpiece (14) with respect to the nominal size to be produced, wherein the oversize measures about 2 to 3 μm at every point. Since the same grinding and eroding tool (12) in the same setup is used for eroding and grinding, the subsequent grinding can take place with very little removal of material. Therefore, very delicate circumferential contours of the grinding and eroding tool can be used and accordingly very delicate and complex geometries can be created on the workpiece (14).
