PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope and an endoscope system capable of executing miniaturization (diameter reduction) of an insertion part flexible tube (its distal end, especially) to be inserted into a body cavity and reducing the pains of a patient during insertion.
SOLUTION: The endoscope 100 includes the insertion part flexible tube 200 to be inserted into a lumen and an illumination means 700 for irradiating an observation part with illumination light, and the illumination means 700 includes at least one surface light source 710 provided on the distal end face 231 of the insertion part flexible tube 200 (hard part 230). Such a surface light source 710 is an organic EL element.
