Silicone elastomers (SE) containing a homogeneously dispersed antiseptic with an average particle size (d50) of 0.5-15 (preferably 1-10) microns and a particle size distribution of 0.1-30 (preferably 0.5-20) microns. Independent claims are included for (1) catheters containing SE as above (2) silicone rubber formulations (SRF) containing (A) polysiloxane(s) of formula R 1>(R 2>) 2SiO(SiR 3>R 4>O) xSiR 1>(R 2>) 2 (I), (I) polyhydrogen-siloxane(s) of formula R 21>(R 22>) 2SiO(SiR 23>R 24>O) xSiR 21>(R 22>) 2 (II), (J) catalyst(s) containing a platinum group metal and not more than 3 parts by weight (pts. wt.) other metal compounds (oxides, carbonates, other salts or complexes of Fe, Al, Zn, Ti, Zr, Ce or other lanthanoids) to 100 pts. wt. (A), and (K) at least one suspension of antiseptic(s) (especially chlorhexidine, octenidine, PHMB, Quats, taurolidine and/or triclosan) in (I) and/or (II) and/or non-functional siloxanes (G) (3) a method for the production of SE by polymerising SRF as defined above.
