The image acquisition section has a light source. The oral cavity insertion section has an imaging unit that includes an imaging section and a light reflection section. The light reflection section is placed at a position opposed to the imaging section via an imaging target. Also, the dental image acquisition apparatus can further include an image processing section and an image display section. The image processing section calculates three-dimensional coordinates of the imaging target on the basis of the image acquired by the image acquisition section. The image display section displays a three-dimensional image created on the basis of the three-dimensional coordinates calculated by the image processing section.
