The invention relates to a gardening device for soil cultivation, comprising ahandle section, a ground contact section attached thereto, for example a blade(1), a power supply, a number of detecting devices for detecting a number ofvariables corresponding to soil properties, a computing unit for calculatingthe soilproperties from the number of variables corresponding to the soil properties,andan output device for outputting the soil properties and/or soil propertiesbasedinformation. Therein, the ground contact section carries electrodes (3, 4, 7,8), viawhich the number of the variables corresponding to the soil properties aredetected, and wherein one of the number of detection devices is a nutrientdetection device for detecting a number of variables corresponding to thenutrientcontent in the soil, wherein the computing unit is designed for calculatingthenutrient content in the soil from the number of variables corresponding to thenutrient content in the soil and the output device for outputting the nutrientcontentin the soil.The invention is characterized in that the ground contact section is made offiber-reinforced plastic such as glass-fiber-reinforced plastic, and thenutrient detectiondevice detects an electrical conductivity of the soil as a measure of thenutrientcontent and comprises at least two of the electrodes (7, 8) for conductivitydetection, which are mounted spaced apart on the ground contact section,wherein these conductivity measuring electrodes (7, 8) comprise or consist ofalayer deposited as electroless nickel on the ground contact section.The invention further relates to a sowing or planting method to be carried outwiththe gardening device.
