PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a winch device by providing an engaging element of a clutch which can be freely engaged and disengaged to/from a winding shaft in a driving side gear.SOLUTION: In the winch device, the winding shaft 2 around which a traction member 1 whose distal end is connectable to a traction object is wound is provided with an energizing means 3 for energizing the traction member 1 in the winding direction thereof, and the driving side gear 5 connected to a drive source 4 is connected through a clutch 6. The clutch 6 comprises: a plunger 12 whose distal end freely appears and disappears from/to a shaft hole 5a of the driving side gear 5 for inserting the winding shaft 2 freely rotatably forwards and backwards, and which is provided inside the driving side gear 5 together with a spring 13 energized in the projecting direction of the shaft hole 5a and a notch 18 formed such that the plunger 12 can be engaged and disengaged on the outer circumference of the winding shaft 2.
