A laparoscope having a body 12 having a distal end 18 and a proximal end 16. The laparoscope comprises a camera 20 and a light source 22 at the distal end. The laparoscope also comprises an operable interface 28 adjacent the proximal end 16, for operating the camera 20 and/or light source 22 and a processor and data storage are located in the body 12 and operable to provide an interface for managing the camera 20, light source 22 and recording images. The camera 20 and light source 22 may be manoeuvrable. A lens 38 may be provided at the distal end 18 of the device. The operable interface may comprise a display or control buttons. The device may comprise a plurality of cameras. The processor may be configured to move the field of view of the camera and to adjust at least one of the focus, depth of filed or image parameter. A sheath for the laparoscope is also provided. A case configured to enclose a laparoscope comprising a trocar tip is also provided. A kit comprising at least one of a laparoscope, sheath and/or case is also provided.
