A visual compensation device making it possible to observe an observation optical axis (X) with an optical correction of variable power, comprises a lens (6) having, according to the optical axis, a variable spherical power as a function of a first control, and an optical assembly (2, 4) generating, along the optical axis, a cylindrical correction variable according to at least a second command applied to said optical assembly (2, 4). The visual compensation device also comprises a module for receiving at least one setpoint for said optical correction and a module for determining the first command and the second command according to said setpoint by means of a model taking account of the distance (e2) separating said lens (6) and said optical assembly (2, 4). A control method of a visual compensation device and a binocular optometry device are also provided. Un dispositif de compensation visuelle permettant d'observer selon un axe optique (X) d'observation avec une correction optique de puissance variable, comprend une lentille (6) ayant, selon l'axe optique, une puissance sphérique variable en fonction d'une première commande, et un ensemble optique (2, 4) générant, selon l'axe optique, une correction cylindrique variable en fonction d'au moins une seconde commande appliquée audit ensemble optique (2, 4). Le dispositif de compensation visuelle comprend également un module de réception d'au moins une consigne pour ladite correction optique et un module de détermination de la première commande et de la seconde commande en fonction de ladite consigne au moyen d'un modèle tenant compte de la distance (e2) séparant ladite lentille (6) et ledit ensemble optique (2, 4). Un procédé de commande d'un dispositif de compensation visuelle et un dispositif binoculaire d'optométrie sont également proposés.
