A skin care composition is described comprising water-soluble dye polymer comprising polymer backbone having negatively charged reactive dye substituent covalently bound thereto opacifying particle having a refractive index of greater than 1.7 and cosmetically acceptable carrierwherein the weight ratio of opacifying particle to reactive dye substituent of the dye polymer(b:a) is at least 30:1.The composition is useful for providing cosmetic benefits such as skin lightening, evening skin tone and masking blemishes.
