The present application relates to an expandable spinal implant assembly (1) for insertion between two adjacent vertebral bodies. The expandable spinal implant assembly comprises a first body (10) with a first superior endplate (11) and a first inferior endplate (12). The first superior endplate (11) and the first inferior endplate (12) are connected together on at least one side. Further, at least one strut (17) is comprised by said first body (10) and connects with one of said endplates, said strut (17) comprising a first threaded through bore (18) with a central axis. The expandable spinal implant assembly further comprises a substantially hollow second body (40) with a second superior endplate (41) and a second inferior endplate (42), said second body (40) being at least partially engaged within said first body (10). A central screw (70) with a first end comprising a ball-head (72) and a drive, said central screw (70) further having a threaded shaft (74) is engaged within said first threaded through bore (18). At least one track is arranged on a second top inside face of said second superior endplate (41) and/or on a second bottom inside face of said second inferior endplate (42), said at least one track being oriented at an acute angle relative to the central axis of said first threaded through bore when said substantially hollow second body (40) is at least partially engaged with said first body (10) and wherein said ball-head (72) of said central screw (70) is engaged into said at least one track.
