Disclosed is a monoclonal antibody comprising a variable heavy chain and a variable light chain, wherein the three CDRs of the variable heavy chain comprise the amino acid sequences of SEQ ID NO: 13 (SYGMS), SEQ ID NO: 14 (SIKNNGGSTYYPDSLKG), and SEQ ID NO: 15 (SGDY), and the three CDRs of the variable light chain comprise the amino acid sequences of SEQ ID NO: 16 (RSSQSLVHSNGDTFLH), SEQ ID NO: 17 (KVSNRFS) and SEQ ID NO: 18 (SQSIHVPWT), wherein the antibody binds with greater specificity to an amyloid beta protein globulomer than to an amyloid beta protein monomer. Also disclosed is the use of said antibody in the use of treating or preventing Alzheimer&rsquos disease.
