A method of registering information pertaining to a surgical implant procedure is also disclosed. The method comprises scanning, by an optical scanning system, a surgical implant having an optical feature. The optical feature represents information pertaining to a manufacturer, a model, and/or a size of the surgical implant. Information pertaining to a patient and/or a surgical implant procedure is received. The received information is associated with information pertaining to the optical feature.
