ANI (Adaptive Neuromodulatory Device) is a therapeutic intervention isdesigned as a syntheticbiofeedback loop. It is a personalized device that administers real-timestimulation to neural correlatesthat pertain to certain maladaptive mechanisms manifested in psychiatricpatients. These targetedsymptoms may include, but are not limited to; affective lability and emotionaldysregulation, persistentHPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis activation or inactivation, depersonalization, derealization, and features of psychosis. This device would be an exercise in personalizedmedical intervention: anysymptom, or variety of symptoms could be targeted provided that data isgathered on the primary neuralcorrelates, or regions of interest that are correlated with said symptoms.Inhibitory effects on certainstructures, such as those found in the limbic system, could be achievedindirectly through the stimulationof correlates that have organically produced inhibitory inputs to saidstructures. This IPNMD is designedwith the ability to integrate itself seamlessly into a patient's routine.
